Question: What should I do to prepare my home to be listed and shown?
Answer: If you have your property listed for sale you should first have your home practically “staged” meaning you got rid of any clutter. It should look clean, neat and crisp. Almost like a model home. If you need to touch up paint or clean out the garage or get rid of some of the furnishings to make the space look bigger, we recommend you do so. Adding hanging baskets or beautiful plants at the front door is a nice touch as well.
Then your agent can photograph the home at its best. These photos are what grabs potential buyers attention online. Most buyers start their home search online, so your listing photos are important because they’re their first impression. Once your home has been listed, be prepared to have it clean and orderly at all times.
You can request 24 hour notice to be put in the MLS listing for agents to see when scheduling appointments. However, the easier your home is to go view, the better! Make sure that your home looks and smells amazing! Do not go over board with scents but having the carpets cleaned and adding a light air freshener scent can be a major plus. No one wants to walk in a smell any kind of food or pet Oder ! First impressions are so important. If the home looks clean and smells fresh buyers have an immediate sense that the home has been taken care of and this matters to them! The better it looks, the more activity you will have and the quicker it will sell.
